One of Shanghai’s most famous chefs has no formal training. She doesn’t even own her own restaurant.
But 56-year-old Wang Ying, a former bus driver, has made a name for herself with her lavish dinners prepared in the kitchen of her four-room apartment. Her private sessions are almost always fully booked.
In this video, Wang travels over 1,000 miles to Shaanxi Province in northwestern China to search for new recipes for her private kitchen. She meets a local villager renowned for lamb stew and hunts for hairy crabs in rice fields.
